Desmond was converted at the age of 23 as a single working adult. He is grateful for the many lessons he has learned as a lay leader in the church. This spurred his interest in human relations, which led him to take up courses on human relationships and which helped him to acquire people and leadership skill through the years. Desmond has personally impacted and inspired many others through his life and teaching. One especially notable time was when he was involved in counselling the victims’ next-of-kin in Taiwan after the SQ006 accident on 31 October 2000.
Maureen became a disciple in 1989, a year after the Central Christian Church was founded in Singapore. She started her training in leading small groups at the age of 23, counselling and helping others to know God. She has a diploma in Computer programming. Maureen married Desmond in 1994, and is now a proud mother of two wonderful children and works part-time as an administrator in the church child-care centre.
Both Desmond and Maureen have been serving in the leadership of the church since 1989. They have served in various ministries including the teens, singles, marrieds and parents, and they now lead a group of about 40 members in the East Region serving as deacons there under Wee Keong & Joyce Ng.
