Matthew became a disciple in May, 1988 in Boston when he was studying at the Berklee College of Music. Together with John Chuang, the brother who helped him become a Christian, he co-led a Chinese Bible Talk in Downtown Boston for a few years before John left for the Taipei Mission Team. Matthew went on to get his Masters Degree in Orchestral Conducting from the University of Massachusetts, Lowell. On returning to Singapore in October 1993, he worked for the Singapore Symphony Orchestra as its Principal Librarian before getting his professional debut conducting the Singapore Youth Orchestra in 1995.

He went on to do his Doctorate of Philosophy and is currently a teacher for the Higher Music Program at the prestigious Nanyang Girls' High School. He has been a song leader in the church since 1994, and is currently the Worship Director for the church as well as Choirmaster for the church choir. He has written various evangelistic plays over the years and in December 2002, produced and directed our first Christmas Musical. His highlight as a disciple was when he helped his younger brother become a Christian in 2000. He is currently a Deacon in the church and leads a Parents Bible Talk with his wife Alina.

Alina became a disciple in May, 1990. Her elder sister Annette, who became a disciple in March, brought her to church. Together they also helped convert their younger sister Alva in June the same year. By the grace of God and with great perseverance, their mother later became a christian. She is a now a mature yet vibrant Christian in the Chinese Ministry. In the past, Alina has been with the teen ministry, with Working Singles, Marrieds and is now helping out in the Parent Ministry. She recently resigned from being an Executive Secretary to be a stay home mum with their vivacious young daughter.  They serve as deacons for the whole church with the Music Ministry.
